Hugo

First off, this actually is a good little movie, just not what I expected based on the promos and the idea of clockwork man. I had in ind more of a fantastic journey nvolving magical places and such. What it is, is a salute to the very early days of movie making, with the clockwork man being merely a means to an end. Or put another way, if you're waiting fr the action, it takes about 2 hours for the movie to get really revved up.

Hugo is a cute little family film centered around a boy names, of course, Hugo, and his mission to finis a project begun with his father. This mission leads him to a chance discovery of a living piece of cinematic history nearly forgotten (and some rather interestin old silent movie footage). That it is a salute and love letter to such early fils and their makers is undoubtedly true. If this isn't your type of film, then wait to rent it, but other wise it is a pretty good quiet family film.
