Recently the X-Files gave a two part episode in which they promised full disclosure of all those mysteries that have been building up for the last 5 years, saying everything would finally be explained. Well, they came through in perfect X-Files style.

The amazing part is, that the basic plot is not only really simple but one of the more classic plot-lines of science fiction. Chris Carter has managed to draw out a sinple alien-invasion plot to a five year run with enough twists and turns to make Machiovelli proud.

It all boils down to the bad aaliens that want to take over the galaxy and the good aliens that want to stop them, with Earth in the middle and our favorite conspiracy group trying to save their own skins. A plot so simple you wouldn't have bought it in the first season, but it has been pulled off masterfully over the years.

Where to from here? Well, let's see. The aliens are still coming with no way to stop them, Muldur's sister is still missing, and now the Smoking Man is the only one left in charge of the conspiracy since the rest of his cronies are all dead. I'd say there's still enough here to keep us glued to the TV sets for a couple more years to come.
