300

Based on the graphic comic which in turn is based on the actual historical event, 300 depicts the stand a very few Spartans took against a very lot of Persians trying to invade Greece. The Spartans took a stand in a critical mountain pass through which the greater Persian numbers would not matter any; this movie is of that battle, as well as the war the Spartan Queen waged at home trying to drum up support.

Visually this is graphic artwork, with some eerie colored filtering effects that make it look like a graphic novel come to life. From the sex seeds to the violence and battle scenes, every bit of it looks artistically rendered. But does it nhave a plot? Acting? The answer, in short, is yes. A plot taken from history overlaid with some political maneuvering and defiant moments against a powerful tyrant. A lot of screaming into the camera, which considering these are Spartamns we're talking about, actually works. All in all quite effective.

I will say that this is definitely a hard R rating. It's got B and B: Breasts and Blood. Bare female breats but not just for sex's sake (look at some old Greek togas and you'll realize that seeing them pop out would not nhave been uncommon), an artistically rendered sex scene, and enough full-in-view decapitations to make the breast-flesh harmless in comparison. We aren't talking Robocop-gorefest, but still you'll want to be careful for the kiddies.

Definitely a winner.
