The A-Team

Another in the "let's make movies based on things from my childhood" genre, though this one not too bad. Based on the successful series of the same name, this film is entertaining enough, filled with action, and a bit of the old A-Team spark, but just missing in a couple of finner points.

First the characters. Murdock is nearly spot on, and face is pretty much Face as well, though needs a good shave. BA Barackas comes close, thugh could use a bit more attitude and is missing the jewelry. As far as Hannibal, it took me a bit to realize what was mising with him; he had the cigar, the "I love it when a plan comes together", but when George Pappard said that line he always did so with a mischievous smile wrapped around his cigar and a twinkle in his eye that was missing in this incarnation. Also missing was any sign of "the jazz"; Hannibal was like an imp when he was on the jazz, showing in his every movement and his attitude, and not once was there even an utterance of "uh oh, he's on the jazz again". In short, Hannible was misisng that special spark.

Also sparkless were certain elements of this plot. It was missing a certain flare, that special A-Team hutzpa. Their escapes were wild enough, but could have used a bit more mischievous attitude, that wild grin in the face of danger. This is still a good movie, but with a bit more work could have been great.

A good matinee flick, I'd give it a good solid Cheddar on the old Cheesey Scale.r
