Battle: Los Angeles

Better than Skyline but not as good as ID4, this alien invasion flick centers around, of course, the city of Los Angeles, specifically a mission to save some civilians before the military tries bombing the pogies out of the alien beachhead in Santa Monica. If you're looking for gritty, Shaky-cam, realistic action with good acting, then this is the flick to see. If you're looking for a good script with some science in the science fiction, then run away. Fortunately the acting and action are good enough to overcome the script... if you close your ears when the "science experts" come briefly into play.

Their televised experts say the aliens want our water. Fair enough, they did the same thing in the original "V". But they went on to say that it's because "our planet is the only one in the entire universe where water is in its liquid state and free to access." Say what?! The only place in ouor solar system maybe, but the Universe?!? They then observe that as the aliens are stealing water oput of our oceans that "our oceans' water levels are already dropping". Again, Huh? Pretty fast drainage for only being on our world for a couple of hours with a pretty limited force to take away such a large amount, not to mention how are they measuring this when our satellites should have been shot down and we have trouble under the best of circumstances measuring our oceans' water levels down to the foot.

Fortunately that piece of pain only lasts for about a minute. So stopper up your ears for that short bit then enjoy the rest. And is there a sequel in the works? There certainly could be, though there needn't be. It all depends on the box office. All in all, this is a pretty fair matinee' flick. On my Cheesey Scale, it's a Motarella.
