Beowulf

The first movie based on the classic epic, this done with 3D computer graphics. I've never read the source material, but as a film it works pretty good.

First on the technical side, the graphics are getting better, though still reminisent of animated manicans when it comes to the people, though good enough to look like they're actually acting, facial expressions and all. Monsters amnd landscape, of course, are excellent. And grendle? You just gotta see that ugly old puss-monster to believe it.

Nor for the film itself. Hideous troll, female water demon, big golden dragon, young queen to fight for, Danish/Norse kings in their mead halls, brave deeds,... you get the idea. Beowulf is a Viking warrior given to large deeds and even larger lies and exagerations about said deeds; something that gets him into trouble over the years. Beowulf is an epic hero of old, and while the movie no doubt takes shortcuts over what I hear is a thousand page epic, it does well enough to give a good entertainment value for those into fantasy, myth, and adventure.
