Bubba Ho-Tep

Bruce Campbell does a very convincing performance as an aging Elvis in this amusing flick that pits the King against an Egyption mummy in the heart of Texas. Said mummy preys on the souls of the elderly in a convalesence home where a misplaced Elvis happens to be living. A unique enough concept that comes off as rather amusing.

Brought to you by the guy behind the Phantasm series (if memory serves, which would explain the "wrath of Bubba Ho-Tep" line at the bottom end of the final credits), the first part can be a bit depressing for some (like me) as it shows elderly life from the point of those living in the home, but once that mummy starts moving around it's not too bad.

With movie prices being what they are, however, I can't entirely justify anything more then matinee price at a cheap theater, or waiting for the video to come out. It's a good film, but fewer things are looking worth $10 a showing nowadays. Unique and amusing, and Bruce Campbell always puts on a good show.
