Captain America

Well it finally happened; the First Avenger finally made it to the big screen. The classic Captan America story is told, startng with some frozen aircraft wreckage found in the snow-bound north then flashing back to World War II and a 90-pound weakling trying to enlist in the army. His rise, his fight against the forces of Red Skull, and the final confrontation between the two that finally lands him in ice; it's all there. The middle goes by a bit fast, when they use a montage sequence to move through the various raides that he and his unit make agaist Red Skull facilities, but I imagine if they didn't do it that way there'd be about 2 weeks more movie.

Is it perfect? No. Is it really good? Yes. For one, the casting of the two main principles is reallyu good, in particular for the Red Skull. Who else in Hollywood but Hugo Weaving has the facial structure to so easily led itself the best to being the Red Skull? We also get to see Tony Stark's father, and the world fair of 1940, though I suspect not rhe same one that Stark's dad engineered to point the way to a certain overpowered molecule (a scene at the end will tell you where he got the idea for that in the first place, coinnecting things nicely together.

Oh yeah, and stay thrugh te end credits, for not only do you get the obligatory tie-in scene to the coming Avengers, but you get to see the first trailer for next year's Avengers as well!. All in all, though, a pretty well rounded flick.
