The Legend Of Drunken Master

Another Jackie Chan flick, this one with his old gang from back in Hong Kong. Originally made in 1995 as a sequel to the 1978 film that made him a star, it's finally made it over here to theaters in English. Worth the wait? I think so.

A master of Drunkenstyle Boxing gets caught between a stolen artifact, his parents, and liquor. Already a terrifying marytial artists when sober, give him an alcoholic buzz and he's downright deadly. Plenty of Gung Fu (the correct spelling of Kung Fu) in this pic, with no camera tricks or special effects. Everytjhing you see there is real.

The more I watch Jackie Chan with what little I do know from personal experience in the martial arts, the more impressed I become with his abilities. Watch carefully some of what he does, and notice that not once does the camera move from a shot or switch to a different angle in order to cover up a lack real ability; he does it all directly face into the camera, clear for everyone to see that what he does is for real. An appreciation of Chan's nearsupernatural abilities lends just that much more enjoyment to this film.

If you can find one of the apparently few theaters it's playing in, then go see this film. A definite matinee mustsee.
