The Road To El Dorado

An animated Road picture for the new century, Dreamworks has once again proved their talents. Set in the sixteenth century, it features two con-men who find themselves with a map to the fabled city of gold and thence soon at the wrong end of Spanish explorer Cortez's sword. Mix in the amiable native chieftain and the so-old-hat-you-knew-it-was-coming evil high priest out for power, and you have a respectable romp through an old theme that has not yet been over-used.

But wait, there's more! Move over Jessica Rabbit, there's now a new animated pin-up girl in town. Taking the Dorothy Lamore reins, Chel is the most dateable animated chic to come out of the inkwell in a long time. A scheming thief equal to the other two, she sees to it that the story is just gettoing started by the time they find El Dorado. But just remember, she's only anime.

Definitely a good watch, though rather undeserving of the PG rating. Ever since PG-13 went in they've been bumping up the rating on movies which in previous years would have been an easy G (personal commentary here; at this rate, a new Bambi release would be an R). So, don't mind the rating, this one's for everyone of all ages.

And if you don't like family movies then just leave them at home. This one's worth the watch anyway.
