Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix

Installment number five of the seroies (which I've got to read some day), in this one things gearing up oin the wake of Cedric's death and the return of He Who Must Not Be Named (Hastur?). Naturally the magical authorities either don't believe or want to keep a lid on things, sparking events that lead fo the clamping down on activities at Hogworts by the most disagreeable Dark Arts instructor yet, Miss Umbridge.

All the expected elements are present: humor (all those plaques!), increasing tension as Harry struggles to be believed, drama, and action. Umbridge is perfectly hateful to the point where you just want to smack that smile right off her face. Then when the students are desperate they turn to Harry who turns out to be a most excellent teacher. In the midst of this is something that Voldemort is looking for to better his chances, which means Harry and company must get to it first. But he is not alone, for the Order of the Phoenix is a private little club established in the wake of Voldemort's first grab for power, and they're here to help Harry. End all this up with what we've been waiting for; the first one-on-one between Voldemort and Dumbledor.

Obviously this is the lead-in to Harry Potter 6, with everyone beginning to actively build up for the inevitable war against Voldemort and his growing army. In and of itself this film is good enough, though not the best in the series, but good enough to keep my interest. At 2 hours and twenty minutes, they obviously left a lot out of the books, though only someone who's read the books will be able to tell me if that's a good or bad thing. This will probably turn out to be the big winner this summer, and I think deservedly so.

See it and keep those wannds handy, for Voldemort's back.
