Hildago

A lot better than I expected, this film about a man and his horse chronicles an actual cowbow who dares to take his mustang into a thousand-year old race across the Arabian Desert against a houndred other riders, all thoroughbreds. Adventure, underhanded tactics, trechery, heroism, surviving against the odds, and of course a race.

The usual set up, with a soldier who looses faith and ends up a drunken showman after seeing the slaughter at Wounded Knee by fellow soldiers, then the expected offer for something that finally brings him out of it, in this case the race. The race itself is good solid excitement, with all the usual twists and turns one would expect for such a plot, but it's done rather well with nothing really wrong with it.

A great matinee' movie to sit back and have fun at.
