Taken from the first modern otherworldly fantasy series ever written, by one Edgar Allen Rice Burroughs, this movie takes us to Barsoom (Mars) where Captain John Carter discovers he's a lot stronger on the smaller world. He also dicovers a whole lot of alien strangeness. Flying machines, Tharks, the usual warring factions, shapechanging manipulative guides; in short, they pulled off the atmosphere of an entire alien world and made it work. Insert a few epic conflicts, both personal and military, and you got a really great tale.

Not having rea the books, I cannot vouch for the accuracy of movie to book, but I do know I was entertained. I also happened to see it in 3D (free ticket) and can say to not bother wasting the extra money. The only thing that really popped out at me 3-D wize was the Disney logo. That aside, this will be the first blockbuster of the season.

And if it ain't, then shame on you all.
