Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

Good Demo Reel, now when's the real movie going to show?

Seriously, though, while parts of it are entertaining enough, and the concept has potential, it could use about 30-45 minutes more, some more plot and character development, and a bit of logic to certain of the plot elements (if the island sinks every 140 years, and we see the whole thing break apart and the ruins tumble into rubble into the sea, then why afterwards do we see the same ruins at the bottom of the sea just as they were before? And wouldn't the unusual animals have gone extinct from drowning several dunkings ago?). The whole thing felt like it was rushed. The first half of the film especially felt as if they just wanted to rush through things to "get the good stuff", and that includes rushing the actors through their lines without time to have them get it right or put much emotional meaning into their lines. Good story telling means taking your time and these guys certainly did not. Not even time enough to make one of their jokes do anything but fall flat ("Did it have to be a lizard? Why couldn't it be a snake"- an obvious Raiders reference that missed; not to mention an uncomforably long pec-popping scene that was also mant to be funny and just had me squirming).

Save your money on this one. Oh yeah, and we get the gag: Journey 2: The Mysterious Island... Journey TO the mysterious island? Not worth the trouble.
