An entertaining little movie that uses several tried and true classic SF plot elements in interesting ways. Yes, parts of this have been done before, and yes some of the plot logic and tech background have holes in them (after a billion years of evolution and development I think they could have come up with a solution that avoids the main conflict behind the plot, not to mention their biology would be a LOT more advanced), but it still has enough of a bit of grandeur about it to qualify as an epic little film. Also quite entertaining. I want to see more of this universe.
