The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe

Based on a book I DID read, I can say first off that it's an absolutely faithful adaptation and secondly that it's a really good movie. Four children walk throughj an enchanted wardrobe in World War II England to find themselves in another land populated by talking animals and creatures out of Greek mythology, a land under the cold thumb of an ice witch. What follows is pure enjoyable fantasy.

The CG is pretty good, in fact Aslan is so convincing in appearance and reactions that I forgot to look for any CG artifacts. So good is the CG and effects, in fact, that not once was I drawn out of the picture thinking over some low-grade effect or subpar graphical artifact. The world of Naria was alive, and thus the story could be enjoyed.

A great movie, holiday or otherwise, and one of the rare film adaptations of a book that actually works.
