The Princess Diaries

Rather similar in general concept to Pretty Woman, and by the same director and studio as that otrher film, this one is not only as heart-warming, but it has one other thing in common... A new star has been born again.

In this film we have a new young Julia Roberts, complete with a similar thousand-watt smile, in the title role; a young lady we shall not soon see the last of. Combine that with Julie Andrews nearly type-cast as the Queen of the mythical country, and you have a film with humor, charm, and even a moment or two of excitement. Predictable and done before, perhaps, but that doesn't make it any less worthy of viewing.

Some would say this makes for a good family movie. Me, I just say it's a good movie, period.
