Josie And The Pussycats

And the winner for the most product placements per minute is... Pussycats! But, in a good humorous way as I'm sure you'll agree. So blatant, yet when you think about it also keeping with the setting (how many product banners do you see at any given conert?). In fact, the whole plot revolves around this, though the fdact that the products they use just happen to be real ones probably means this film earned a profit beore it ever hit the theaters.

That said, let's go on to the real reason why this is a fun movie. Okay, getting past the nostalia part, this fi;lm even pokes fun at itself. Witness one exchange between character Alexander to sister Alexandra...

Alex: "Just why are you here?"
Alexandra: "I was in the comic book."
Alex: "What?"
Alexandra: "Never mind."

Get the picture? And that was near the beginning. Also, I must say that Tara Reid has put the ditsy back in blond when it comes to her perfect portrayal of drummer Melody; you just have to see her to believe it. Also, Alan Cummings is once again the bad guy here- seems to be his year.

There's a certain print magazine (whose name begins with Entertainment and ends with a word that rhymes with Meakly) that didn't seem to like this film, complaining that Josie was too straight -laced and Melody too much of a ditz. They obviously never saw the original cartoon, nor do they have any sense of fun. This movie was enjoyable and lots of fun.

Oh and the music? Done by the Pussycats of course (just check the credits).
