Robocop- 2014

The remake of the original, this film leaves just a bit to be desired. Though, if you remove just a tiny unnecessary piece at the beginning, really amp up what's left, add in some REAL (or any) music, then you might be able to bring it up to the standard of an episode of the old Robocop TV show... Unfortunately, that "tiny" bit you'd need to eliminate is about an hour and twenty minutes long. Yes, what we have here is a Robocop movie that is bland at its best and boringly pointless at its worst. And while you do hear a small bit of the original theme, it's never more than the 20 seconds you're allowed to play without paying royalties.

There were a couple of notable performances, good and bad, though even the good people could not save this movie. Samual L. Jackson- he couldn't turn in a bad performance if he tried; he just loves what he does too much. Gary Oldman: Great as the doctor that created Robocop. Michael Keaton: He must have phoned this thing in because he doesn't look like he wants to be here at all. The robocop guy: Peter Weller has nothing to worry about; this guy has no presence at all as a mandroid and doesn't even act like one. Everybody else: Replaceable (and please do), though the female assistant to Oldman is good (and actually better than the Robocop guy).

Please, please Hollywood, no more remakes of classics. There's a reason why they're CLASSICS.
