Shrek The Third

The next friendly ogre installment, this time the King is sick and dying and Shrek must find the only heir or suffer a fate worse that death: become king himself. A fairly enjoyable flick, though nothing to write home about, it'll probably last until next week's big block buster.

The animation is as the previous films, enough humor here and there, and the film at about an hour and a half designed to fit the attention span of younger audiences. All in all not too bad though there is one thing I'd like to point out. One obvious pun they had more restraint that myself in not pointing out. Keeping in mind that the old King is now a frog (from the end of Shrek 2), as he lies dying in bed and finally succumbs, am I the only one in the theater that pointed out that he'd just "croaked"? I kept waiting and waiting for one of the characters to use that line but I guess they'd decided it too solemn a moment or some such (seieng as how I don't believe they'd miss such an obvious pun).

Pay matinee', take the kids, and expect it to do well until the third Pirates movie comes out next week.
