The second installation of the reboot, this one was thankfully advertized without any key plot point revealed in the trailers, because there's a big spoiler they could have indulged in. First off, there is a scatter-shot of original Trek references that read less like a salute and more like a parody; I'm not really sure if he's trying to carve a new Trek nich or making a movie in spite of the original source material. That said, the action is great, though some elements of the plot seem a bit rushed, and the look and feel of the tech really seems real, like that could be actual working equipment in that warp core. Anything more would reveal the plot but you'll see what they did right off the bat.
