A movie by the same director as brought us Spy Kids (which explains the three common cast-members), and apparently a sequel of sorts to another movie I haven't seen, it appears to center around a guitar-playing gun for hire called El Mariachi, though the plot weaves around several other major characters and twists and turns.

A bit more then just the one guy shooting things up, in fact El Mariachi is almost a secondary roll at times, there is a plot that involves revenge, a drug lord, a coup by a general, and a CIA agent with a lack of morals. Several interesting characters, good twists, and inventive gun fights, the movie turns out to have more substance than I'd have at first given it credit for. Not too bad for a matinee' flick, but definitely a hard 'R' rating.
