Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen

The second outing for the Transformers, this one finding them cooperating with a government agency to hunt down all those loose Decepticons out there, while out favorite young couple are trying to get on with some semblance of normal teen life. Normal, until the expected plot complication which has him seeing strange texts and Decepticons on the move looking around the globe for somethign important.

The plot is straightforward enough, the story sprinkled with a couple of crude juvenal jokes, and the action... well, this is an action pic. Action and combat aplenty, though with a stronger wrap around plot than the first flick, not to mention the fighting sequences are a lot more clearer. The first movie some scenes were unintelligible, just really quick snaps of really upclose shots that amounted to just a dizzying wall of moving gears. Here we can actually make out individuals and what's fighting what, enough to enjoy the battle a lot more. So, for any of the faults others see in it, this film IS a lot better than the first. A good brain-on-partial-hold matinee'

And now for what's not so good, and it can be summed up thusly: Transformers are NOT Fembots! They don't do biological components which is why they disguise themselves as machines! Hard cold metal.

That said, I know others with an eye for detail will point out that the transformation sequemnces make no sence, that it's just a random mess of shifting gears then suddenly it's taken on a new form. Well for those, think back real carefully to the original cartoon. Not too much interlocking detail there either; or have you forgotten that Optimus Prime's trailer always came out of nowhere? So I'm not going to fault or complain about that little detail; I did that complaint back with the original Transformers cartoon series.

Matinee fare, plain and simple. It'll run for a couple of weeks, then Harry Potter will kick it and all others around like a hacky-sack ball.
